Fueled By Fire

The Legion is an empire that has conquered vast reaches of Kovanth's Rel Galaxy. Across hundreds of worlds, they have brought the mightiest civilizations to their knees, demanding obedience, tribute, and service from those beneath its banner. Its rule is oppressive, but ordered: conquered civilizations are preserved where they can be made useful, their resources and people turned toward the strength of the Legion.

Dominion is different.

Under Primearch Gladius, the warhost has become a brutal instrument of conquest, consuming worlds through relentless military pressure. Its armies march beneath ancient heraldric banners alongside plasma rifles, heavy artillery, and immense war machines. Fortified cities and stone castles are reinforced with advanced alloys, while aristocratic commanders direct mechanized armies from within their citadels. Dominion is a vision of medieval nobility given the weapons of an impossible future.

Gladius represents survival of the fittest taken to its most violent extreme, embracing a warped version of the Legion's doctrine of strength and order. To the Legion, conquest creates subjects. To Gladius, conquest exists to prove worth. Those who cannot fight are worthless; those deemed worthy may earn a place within his armies. Everything else is expendable.

Morgath Prima has become a fortress-world, transformed into the seat of his throne and the heart of his military power. From here, Gladius wages campaigns with increasing independence from the Legion's other commanders. They tolerate his victories, but fear what he is becoming. Dominion remains part of the empire, yet its armies answer to the Primearch with a loyalty that increasingly rivals their loyalty to the Legion itself.

Its reach is vast, but its rule is never uncontested. Rebellions among the conquered are often crushed before they begin, but resistance has begun to grow. Defiance has crept into the open largely through the efforts of a rebel group known as AEGIS, which has become a persistent thorn in the Legion's side.

For Dominion, violence is the language of conquest. For Gladius, it is the purpose.
