THE OMNIUM

The Omnium is the vast, interconnected multiverse in which the stories of Axion Forge unfold. It is an infinite collection of distinct Realms and planes of existence, each with its own history, inhabitants, and physical laws. No single Realm defines the nature of existence, and no civilization has discovered the full extent of what lies beyond its own reality.

Realms

A Realm is a complete and separate reality, not merely a distant world within a shared physical space. Some contain a single world while others encompass entire planetary systems, galaxies, universes, or forms of existence that defy conventional geography. A Realm may follow familiar natural laws or be governed by magic and phenomena that cannot be full understood.

The Veil

The boundary separating one Realm from another is known as the Veil. Under normal conditions, it prevents direct passage between realities. However, it can now be breached by Rifts.

Rifts

A Rift is an opening in the Veil connecting a Realm to the Nexus, allowing objects, creatures, and other influences to cross between their native reality and beyond. Realms do not connect directly to one another; the Nexus always lies between them.

The Nexus

The Nexus is a distinct plane of existence and the Omnium's central point of interaction, though not its center in any literal sense. It occupies no fixed position between every Realm; rather, it is a shared reality capable of connecting to countless others. Through it, beings from otherwise isolated Realms may encounter one another. Events in the Nexus can impact the established reality of a Realm outside of it.

The Nexus varies as much as, if not more than, the Realms themselves. What crosses a Rift to and from the Nexus is never purely physical: knowledge, culture, memories, and ideas travel the same paths as armies and artifacts.

The full extent of the Omnium cannot be quantified as it is truly infinite and ever-changing. The Omnium is the greater structure of existence itself, an immeasurable multitude of distinct realities, separated by the Veil, connected through the Nexus, and united by a single possibility: that what happens in one reality may eventually reach another.
