An Unlikely Assembly
The Unbound are those between worlds. They are mercenaries, survivors, merchants, refugees, exiles, wanderers, and remnants of realities long forgotten. Some crossed the Rifts by choice. Others were dragged through them when their worlds fell apart. Some were born from possibilities that should never have existed at all.
They have gathered within the Nexus as both a people and a collection of individuals with almost nothing in common. The Unbound have no empire, creed, or common cause. They owe allegiance to no faction and answer to no sovereign. What binds them together is necessity. In the Nexus, survival belongs to those willing to adapt, and almost anything can become useful to someone.
Their ranks contain former soldiers, faction defectors, lost civilizations, wandering gods, Nexus-born organisms, forgotten heroes, and individuals who simply happened to be standing in the wrong place at the wrong time during the Convergence. Some seek a way home, and some have nowhere left to return to.
The Unbound are where the impossible finds a place to belong. Those who do not fit within the doctrines of other factions may find a home among them, whether by choice or circumstance. The Nexus is also filled with things that belong nowhere at all: errant energies, forgotten artifacts, strange technologies, and phenomena left behind when realities collide. The Unbound make use of them all.
Among the countless travelers of the Nexus, rumors persist of strangers who seem to know more about the realm than anyone should. There are those who even claim to have walked between realities for longer than the Nexus itself has been known. Perhaps.
In the Nexus, almost anything is possible, and almost nothing is truly lost.
Fortunes Over Favor
Loyalty can almost always be bought. But in the Nexus, value is rarely measured in coin.
The Ferryman
He says he can navigate any Rift. Nobody knows where he came from, and he insists he is not a Shaper.
The Last Light
A warrior claims to be the final survivor of a destroyed Realm. Someone else remembers him differently.
Lost and Found
A forgotten deity wanders the Nexus in search of followers. Without them, it may soon cease to exist.
Like a River
Strange energy has begun flowing through the Nexus. It has no known source, no apparent purpose, and seems to be gathering around... something.
